On May 24, Stijn Saveniers will defend his PhD thesis 'La Grande Bouffe: Challenges in the Performance of Musical Comedy'.
This research examines the role of humour in operetta, aiming to identify the intrinsic characteristics and structural elements that contribute to its comic effect. The researcher will present a tailor-made analytical framework that enables a systematic investigation of these features.
