Orpheus Institute (Ghent, Belgium)

In 'Here and Now', music performers, trainers, teachers, and thinkers meet to exchange concepts, experiences and perspectives dealing with the particular moment of being on stage. The central topics are self-awareness, presence and the state of 'flow' in music performance.

Three specific perspectives are addressed: musical performance practices
from various traditions, hands-on training for the ‘flow’ state and the
dialogue with the psychology and philosophy of awareness and
‘enaction’.

Guest speakers are:

  • Erik Myin, Philosopher, Department of Philosophy, University of Antwerp (BE)
  • Frank Heckman, Professor of Sustainable Performance, Codarts Rotterdam (NL)
  • Pandit Dhruba Ghosh, North Indian (Hindustani) classical musician, principal at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbay (IN)
