Born into a musical family in Greece, Anastasios-Achillefs Zafeiropoulos obtained the National Piano Diploma (Athens, 2014) in the class of his lifelong teacher, Aliki Piastopoulou. He then moved to Paris to enrich his artistic perspectives, studying with Olivier Gardon, Billy Eidi (modern piano); Philippe Biros (accompaniment); Jeanne Roudet (master’s research supervisor); Edoardo Torbianelli, Piet Kuijken, Luca Montebugnoli and Benjamin Steens (fortepiano and clavichord). Holder of an interpretation degree (DNSPM modern piano PSPBB 2018), a bachelor of musicology (Sorbonne 2018), and a master’s degree (MIMA fortepiano, Sorbonne 2021), he is currently experimenting with historical fingerings – notably, in Clementi’s didactical works – as a PhD candidate under Tom Beghin’s supervision.

Project

The Art of Fingering on the Pianoforte: A Comprehensive and Comparative Study of Clementi’s Didactical Works Applied to Period and Modern Instruments

Started in 2022

This research project proposes a complete methodology concerning the treatment of 18th and 19th century keyboard methods, aiming to enrich our understanding and perspectives of historically informed performance based on an analyses of Clementi’s didactical opuses from the point of view of fingerings.
