Jonathan Chazan is a saxophonist, educator, and artistic researcher based in Konstanz, Germany. He studied at Tel Aviv University and at the Haute École Spécialisée de Suisse Occidentale in Lausanne, working with Pierre-Stéphane Meugé and Gan Lev.

His work encompasses classical, contemporary, experimental, and early music, performed both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles. He is co-founder of Tonkunst Konstanz – Festival für neue Musik and founder and artistic director of Out of the Ordinary – a new music series in Konstanz. He has also initiated projects such as SpectraSax and Composer–Player–Audience, which explore new approaches to performance, pedagogy, and audience engagement.

From 2004 to 2021, he taught saxophone, chamber music, and theory at several conservatories and universities. Since 2021, he has devoted most of his time to theoretical and quantitative research, culminating in the development of his Sculpting Air methodology for winds and forming the basis of his current study.

He also leads workshops that broaden the scope of performance practice, engaging with improvisation, integrative electronics, and the assimilation of new, ancient, and analytical approaches into classical performance.
