Traverso player Vera Plosila is a PhD candidate in Artistic Research within the docARTES programme at Leiden University. Supervised by Professors Rebecca Cypess and Dinko Fabris, her research explores adaptive performance practices in German chamber music from the 1760s to the 1810s. In spring 2025, she will be a Visiting Research Fellow at the Royal Northern College of Music. Vera is also a member of the Early Muse network and participates in the REMArkable mentorship programme for early music researchers. She has presented lecture recitals on her academic-artistic work in Belgium, England, and Croatia.

As an orchestral and chamber musician, Vera has performed with ensembles across Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. She leads Ensemble Nylandia’s orchestral collaboration on Nordic-Baltic court music from the 16th to 18th centuries, which has toured Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, and Finland. From 2024 to 2026, the initiative will continue with an exploration of Francesco Cavalli’s opera La Doriclea (1645) in partnership with the Canadian opera studio re:Naissance.

As a chamber musician, Vera collaborates in various ensembles, performing repertoire from the Renaissance to the early Romantic period. Her flute consort, Intra Vires, will make its debut at the Aurore Renaissance Music Festival (Finland) and the Ceciliana Early Music Festival (Estonia) in early 2025.
