Born in Santiago, Chile, Nicolás Kliwadenko is a Chilean-Italian composer, computer musician, and improviser based in The Hague, Netherlands.
Nicolás completed his Master of Music in Sonology with distinction at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague in 2025, a Master of Arts in Music Composition with distinction at the Universidad de Chile in 2015, and a Bachelor of Music at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2011. In 2025, he was awarded the Konrad Boehmer Prize for Outstanding Research, following previous honours including First Prize at the Luis Advis Composition Competition (2015). He is a member of the Chilean National Association of Composers. His compositional and improvisational works, such as Ensamble, Radical Reconstruction, Didascalia, and Dispositio, have been performed at international festivals and venues across Europe and South America.
As a PhD candidate in the docARTES programme, Nicolás is developing his research project Pluralistic Dynamics of Creativity. His research explores collaborative music-making and iterative creative processes by integrating improvisation, algorithmic systems, score writing, and transcription. Reconceptionalising musical works as provisional, evolving instances rather than fixed objects, his project develops computational tools, web-based documentation platforms, and performance strategies to map recursive creative networks and generative music practices.
